First Lady Melania Trump is reportedly considering a divorce from President Donald Trump once he is out of office.
Rumours of the divorce follow Trump’s loss to Biden in the recent US presidential election, though the outgoing president is yet to concede defeat and is challenging the result.
A former aide to the first lady, Omarosa Manigault Newman, has claimed that “Melania is counting every minute until he is out of office and she can divorce,” reports the Daily Mail.
“If Melania were to try to pull the ultimate humiliation and leave while he's in office, he would find a way to punish her,” he added.
Meanwhile, Fellow ex-aide Stephanie Wolkoff alleged the Trumps had separate bedrooms in the White House and their marriage was "transactional."
According to reports, Melania waited five months before moving from New York to Washington, because the couple's son Barron “needed to finish school.”
However, Wolkoff claimed that Melania was actually negotiating a post-nuptial agreement to give Barron an equal share of Trump’s fortune.
Despite frosty moments in public, Melania, 50, claims she has “a great relationship” with her 74-year-old husband. Meanwhile, Trump insists that they never argue.
Donald Trump's prenup agreement with second wife Marla Maples prevents her from publishing any book or giving interviews critical of him.
Lawyer Christina Previte said it was likely Melania had agreed to a similar code of silence.
