An asteroid which is projected to come close to Earth later in 2020 has a 0.41% chance of hitting the planet.
The Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS), from Nasa’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, said the asteroid is predicted to pass near Earth on November 2, the day before the US presidential election, reports Independent.
However, the space agency said it did not think a direct impact was likely based on its observations.

The asteroid, known as 2018VP1, has a diameter of 0.002 km. It is not considered a “potentially hazardous object” due to its small size.
Asteroids or comets which have an orbit taking them close to Earth and are large enough to cause significant regional damage on impact are considered potentially hazardous objects.
