Bangladeshi youth killed in New York

A Bangladeshi youth has been shot dead in New York City in the United States. 

The deceased was identified as Ariful Yakub Rony, 24, of Daganbhuiyan upazila in Feni. 

He lived with his family near the Church Avenue and Macdonald Avenue in Brooklyn. 

Another Bangladeshi was also injured in a knife attack during the incident that took place in Flatbush area in the New York City on Thursday. 

Rony’s namaj-e-janaza will be held at Darul Jannah mosque in Brooklyn after zohr prayers on Saturday. 

Quoting witnesses the New York police said four youths were engaged in an argument in front of a building in Ocean Avenue. 

At one point, Rony was shot and another person who was along with him was stabbed. 

Then the miscreants fled the spot. 

Rony was rushed to Kings County Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. 

The other Bangladeshi, yet to be identified, is now undergoing treatment at Maimonides Hospital. 

Rony’s uncle Farhad Hossain said he managed his education expenses by driving a taxi. 

He said they could not know yet why Rony went to the building and the identity of the youth who was along with him. 

Police said efforts are underway to identify the miscreants and arrest them.
