POETRY

It was just another day in June

It was just another day in June.

Another day where the sun shone brightly

And the clouds held back the tears warily.

And it was another 27th of June.

All the same of June except

I cursed it while others-a few-celebrated it.

They applauded, cheered and some jeered --

I received.

All of us rejoiced.

But the masquerade ended as the last grain of sand

Flowed through the neck of the hourglass.

After the façade of wishing and thanking,

Before the curtain, some stayed and some left,

But behind the curtain, mourning and grieving,

I sat in a fetal position trying to choke on my sore tears.

Another June will come, another 27th of June too.

It will happen all again.

And I will know myself to be lonelier.

Birthdays are interesting.
