Aditya Anant Gokhale, Kato Tsubasa, Wang Tin-Yu, Run Jia Fang, Mopuri Saitejas and Yang Liu breezed into the boys’ singles main draw of the 27th Bangladesh ITF Junior Tennis, which got underway at the National Tennis Complex in Ramna yesterday.
Aditya of India beat Yoga Argi of Indonesia 3-6, 7-5, 6-4; Kato of Japan defeated Nyles Moisson of Canada 4-6, 6-3, 6-1; Wang Tin of Chinese Taipei outplayed Anshuman Gulia 6-3, 6-3; Jia Fang crushed Arif Hossain of Bangladesh; Mopuri of India beat his compatriot Jaffer Javed while Yang Liu of Taipei outclassed Siddharth Anand of India in the second round of the qualifiers to confirm their berth in the main draw which will be held today morning.
A total of 94 players including 64 boys and 30 girls from 22 countries are taking part in the eight-day meet.
Youth and sports minister Ahad Ali Sarkar inaugurated the tournament as chief guest yesterday afternoon.
