Bangladesh begin Davis Cup campaign with defeat

Bangladesh began their 2018 Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone mission with a 2-1 defeat against the UAE in Muscat, Oman Tuesday. Bangladesh took a 1-0 lead when the UAE's Omar al Awadhi retired hurt but conceded the tie after Dipu Lal and the doubles team comprising Amal Roy and Ranjan Ram suffered losses in their respective matches. Twelve teams divided into two groups are taking part in the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone with Group A comprising the UAE, Iraq, Oman, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan and Group B containing Singapore, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, Bahrain, Tajikistan and Guam.
