The left-cover started the game as one of seven starters during his club’s sixth match against Gujarat Fortunegiants on Tuesday night in Lucknow but event before that, he was adjudged the player of the match in Puneri’s hard-fought win over two-time champion Patna Pirates on Sunday. It was Puneri’s first ever win over Patna in the pro-league history. Ziaur, who is playing in the Pro Kabaddi League for the first time, scored six tackle points, which is as many points earned by the whole Patna team during the match while Puneri’s first choice Indian defender Sandeep Narwal has a total of 13 tackle points from five matches.

It was the 38th match in this season’s Pro Kabaddi League, as well as Puneri’s fifth match, but it also became Ziaur’s debut match as a first-team member. Ziaur earlier played as a substitute in Puneri’s fourth match against Bengal Warriors. Along with Ziaur, two more Bangladesh players – Zakir Hossain and Sulieman Kabir – are also taking part in this year’s Pro Kabaddi but they are yet to feature in any game for their respective club.
