Korea defeat still haunting Bangladesh kabaddi team

The frustrating defeat against Korea is still haunting the Bangladesh kabaddi team. And the Bangladesh coach and captain believe they need modern training facilities in order to maintain their good performance in the international level. Bangladesh, for whom kabaddi is the national sport, had to see the exit door from the group stages of the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup in India after losing to Korea with a narrow margin of 35-32 despite dominating the game. The team returned home on Friday night but the defeat to Korea is still haunting the players and coach. “They played according to the plan from the beginning and we were 10-0 ahead in five minutes with a lona. The drama began in the last two and a half minutes when Arduzzaman (Munshi) was caught during a raid. It was a turning point for the Koreans. It cost us the game,” said coach Subimal Chandra Das. Subimal added, “There is a lack of quality raider in the team. We don't have raiders like Zia and Musa from the past. The reason we couldn't make it to the semi-finals is because of the weakness in raiding.” On the other hand, captain Arduzzaman said, “Korea were a weaker team than us. But they trained for eight months in India before the previous Asian Games. They improved a lot now. The defeat was still unexpected. We need more development in training.” Meanwhile, Bangladesh went to the World Cup with only one and a half month of preparation. They defeated England, Argentina and Australia but lost to hosts India and Korea in Group A.
