National sub junior chess champion Mohammad Fahad Rahman continued his winning streak and inched closer to the title of the Union Insurance 34th National Junior (Under-20) Chess Championship 2014 after beating Swarnavo Chowdhury yesterday.
It was Fahad’s eighth consecutive victory in the tournament and with only one round left a draw will be enough for the country’s youngest Fide Master to win the title. The youngster now has eight points after the end of the eighth round.
Ikramul Haque Siam of Narsingdi is a point behind Fahad at second position with seven points while Avik Sarkar of Mymensingh was third with 6.5 points. Siam beat Protiva Talukder of Rajshahi and Avik drew with Akib Jawad of Chittagong at the Bnagladesh Chess Federation hall-room yesterday.
