WFM Zakia Sultana became 34th and WIM Rani Hamid became 37th earning 6 points each at the end of the 11th round in the Women Grandmasters Chess Tournament at Chennai yesterday.
Masuda Begum became 60th with 5 points, Jahanra Haque Runu became 71st with 4.5 points and Mahmuda Hoque Chowdhury Moly became 80th with 4 points. In the last round, Zakia drew with WFM Bidhar Rutumbara of India, Moly drew with Yuti Mayur Patal of India Rani Hamid lost to Pratyusha Bodda of India, Masuda lost to Saughanthika of India and Runu lost to Shweta Gole of India. WGM Marry Ann Gomes of India clinched the title, WGM Batsiashvili Nino of Georgia became runner-up and IM Vijayalakshmi Subbaraman of India became 3rd with 8.5 points each. Their tie were broken by tie-breaking system. A total 100 players, including 11 WGM, 4IM, 4WIM from nine countries participated in the event.
