Bangladesh have secured places in two gold-medal matches at the 2026 Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament Leg II in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, with the recurve men’s team and compound women’s team advancing to their respective finals.
The recurve men’s team of Abdur Rahman Alif, Md Sagor Islam and Abdullah Al Mohammad Rafi defeated Uzbekistan 6-0 in the semifinals to set up a title clash against Kazakhstan.
The compound women’s team, comprising Bonna Akter, Sriparna Biswas and Kulsum Akter Moni, also booked their place in the final after beating Sri Lanka 233-219. They will face Kazakhstan in the gold-medal match.
Bangladesh’s archers have impressed since the start of the competition, with the country topping both compound individual qualification events.
Nawaz Ahmed Rakib secured the top seed in the compound men’s event with a score of 693, edging Kazakhstan’s Pavel Kuznetsov. Bangladesh’s Himu Bachhar also finished among the leading qualifiers, placing fourth.
In the compound women’s qualification, Bonna topped the standings with 696 points, ahead of Iraq’s Fatimah Saad AlMashhadani, who scored 693, while Kazakhstan’s Elmira Raissova finished third with 685.
Alif also delivered a strong performance in the recurve men’s qualification, scoring 657 to finish third. Iran’s Mohammadhossein Golshani Asl led the standings with 670, followed by Nicholas D’Amour of the United States with 661.
Bangladesh’s compound men’s team had made history at the first leg in Bangkok by winning the country’s first-ever Asia Cup gold in the event. Rakib and Bachhar were part of that gold-winning team, which will now aim to defend its title in Sulaymaniyah.
The second leg of the 2026 Asia Cup is being held from October 24 to 29, offering archers an opportunity to win medals and earn valuable world-ranking points.
With two finals on Wednesday and Thursday secured, Bangladesh will now look to turn their strong performances into gold medals on the international stage.
