Archers bag four medals at Asia Cup in Baghdad

Bangladeshi archers won three medals on the last day of the Asia Cup Stage 1 in Baghdad, Iraq Sunday following a single bronze the previous day.

Recurve mixed team comprising Diya Siddique and Sagor Islam bagged silver after losing the final to India by 0-6 sets while Sagor along with Abdur Rahman Alif and Hakim Ahmed Rubel also lost to India in the recurve men’s team final to grab the other silver.

Diya partnering with Famida Sultana Nisha and Sima Aktar Shimu defeated Iraq 6-0 to clinch bronze in the recurve women team event.

Rubel went close to another medal in the recurve men singles but lost to Uzbekistan’s archer in the bronze final.

Earlier Saturday, the compound mixed team comprising Topu Roy and Meghla Rani beat the hosts to win Bangladesh’s first medal of the continental competition.
