Mizanur Rahman, an avid fan of Lionel Messi, became the man of the match where Bangladesh thrashed Argentina 72-23 in the Bangabandhu Cup International Kabaddi Tournament 2023 in Dhaka Tuesday.
It was Bangladesh's second successive win in the third edition of the competition after the victory over Poland in the opening game.
The technical and tactical edge of the defending champions proved too much for the South American side who hardly countered the raids and defence ring of the hosts.
Bangladesh raiders comfortably returned to their den with precise touch and sidekicks and the defenders built a solid web to catch the Argentine raiders all through the match.
Mizanur and Al Amin were the leading raiders for Bangladesh as skipper Tuhin Tarafder opted to take a relaxed mode in the match.
Bangladesh inserted six all-out or Lonas over the opponents and it took place in the fifth, 10th, 15th, 21st, 28th and 39th minutes.
Argentina tasted their second consecutive defeat after 56-28 loss to Iraq.
“I'm a fan of Messi and I also support Argentina football team. I support this country [Argentina] heart and soul but when it comes to homeland you can't give way,” Mizanur said after the match.
“My country comes first. We can do anything anytime to hold the Bangladesh flag high. I hope to continue winning streak and clinch the title for third time.”
The hosts will face Nepal in their third match Thursday.
