Ruman focuses on Olympics after perfect year

It's like a fairy-tale year for Ruman Shana who earned direct qualification to the Olympics with the country's maiden medal (bronze) in World Championship and ended it with three gold medal in debut appearance in the South Asian Games.

Ety Khatun and Sohel Rana also bagged three gold which is a rare feature for Bangladeshi athletes and first time shooter Saiful Alam Chowdhury Rinly did the same during the 1995 Games in Madras, India.

Ruman termed the year not only his best of his career but also for Bangladesh archery. "This is my last international tournament of the year. It's the best year of my 10-year career. This is also the best year for Bangladesh archery."

The 24-year-old archer's main focus is on the Tokyo Olympics next year. "I have the Olympics next year. I want to work harder and participate in as many international events as I can. Olympic is the biggest competition and I have to prepare myself that way."

"I got nervous in final round. the more I play I will adjust with the nervousness in the final and that's what I'm focusing to improve before the Olympics." said Ruman who won gold in the Asia Cup World Ranking Archery Tournament Stage 3 three months ago.

National archery coach Martin Frederick also termed it a perfect year. The German coach said, "It's a long year. ISSF in February, World Championship in June, Asian Archery last month. It's a very nice finish of the year with 10 out of 10. Overall, it's perfect year."
