Khusbu wins silver in Rapid Chess in India

Seven-year-old Bangladesh chess prodigy Warsia Khusbu clinched silver medal in the Rapid Chess event of the Western Asian Youth Chess Championships Thursday, which is taking place in New Delhi, India.

Khusbu, who became champion in the girls’ U-7 age group of the Asian School Chess Championship 2019 in Uzbekistan in June with two golds, earned six points out of seven games to finish as the runners-up in the girls’ U-8 group.

Khusbu, who is ranked first in her age-group in Asia, also made a winning start in the open section of the U-18 girls’ group in the tournament that began yesterday, beating Mahadev Rushita Haju of India in the opening round. 

Another chess prodigy Manon Reja Neer also won his first game against Adalja Vanssh of India.
