It was the 50meter pistol event where Shakil Ahmed won gold medal in the 2016 South Asian Games and silver medal in the Commonwealth Games but the respective events has been excluded from the upcoming 2019 SA Games.
“50m pistol event is no more an Olympic event. Now I shall be competing in the 10m pistol event, so it will be more difficult for me to win another gold medal in the next SA Games. I would have more confidence if there would be a 50m event.”
There are currently 11 pistol shooters in the ongoing camp among whom Shakil has the most experience. At the beginning of his career, Shakil won bronze in the 10meter air pistol event in the junior level of Asian Air Gun Shooting Championship four years ago.
Shakil hoped, “Now I have only hopes on 10m event. I’ll give my best to win gold there as well”
