The Cute Women’s Handball League will get underway Saturday with the participation of nine teams following a three-year hiatus.
Although reigning champion Dhaka Mariner Young’s Club will take part, runners-up Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited will not participate.
Regarding the three-year gap and Mohammedan’s absence, handball federation general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor said in a press conference, “Due to a variety of reasons, we couldn’t continue the league. And we invited Mohammedan through a letter. But we got no response from them.”
Besides Mariner, Arambagh Krira Chakra, RN Sports Home, Madaripur Handball Training Center, Viqarunnisa Noon Sports Club, Gofur Beluch Smriti Sangsad, Jamalpur Sports Academy, Quantam Foundation and Dilkusha Sporting Club will partake.
All the matches of the 13-day competition will be held at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Stadium and the team with the highest number of points will be crowned champion.
