Bangladesh men's team, who thrashed Hong Kong 19-1 in their opening match last Friday, strolled onto another convincing win against Bhutan, this time by 9-2, in a Pool D tie at Shaheed Sohrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur in the afternoon. Hasan Hridoy, who netted nine goals in the previous game, and Arafat scored four goals each for the home side while Shohag added the other. The women's team, on the other hand, also played at the same venue as they outplayed south Asian neighbours Nepal 8-2 to set one foot in the knockout stage. Zannat Zebin Hia created a world record by scoring five goals. No other woman has ever scored this many in the Roll Ball World Cup. Zannat, also the captain, led from the front, scoring the opener in the third minute but Nepal equalised immediately. Raisa put the home side ahead again in the 12th minute before Sathi made it 3-1 at the stroke of half time. Zannat bagged four more goals after resumption while Noushin added the other. Sreshtha then notched the consolation for the visiting side. Latvia, Denmark, Pakistan, Argentina and Sierra Leone beat Uruguay, Turkey, Guinea, Tanzania and Oman respectively at the Handball stadium.
