Bangladesh name squads as South Asian Archery begins Saturday

The Bangladesh Archery Federation has announced the main squad of the national team Friday for the 3rd South Asian Archery Championship, all set to get underway in Savar's BKSP Saturday. Bangladesh's German head coach Martin Frederick kept the eight-member squad of recurve event unchanged but made four changes in the compound category that took part in the Asian Archery Championship in November last year. Only Abul Kashem Mamun, who was the top finisher (eighth) among the host participant in the AAC, kept his place in the compound team while Asim Kumar Das, Ashikuzzaman Anay and Ratan Mia replaced Najmul Huda, Milon Molla and Ehesan Ahmed respectively in the four-man side.

Frederick made only one change in the women's compound team by bringing in Soma Biswas for Bipasa Akter, who finished last out of 34 participants in the AAC. Bangladesh's top-scorer there was Roksana Akter (684). Two teams from Bangladesh will take part in the five-nation tournament. Apart from the main squad, Team A and Team B contain 10 players including Milon and Ehesan. Among the Bangladesh contingent in the AAC, Roman Shana was top-scorer in the recurve men's event with 666 points while Radia Akther Shapla scored 583 in the women's recurve category.
