The 23-member Bangladesh hockey team left Dhaka yesterday to take part in the second round of the Hockey World League.
The national hockey team reached Malaysia to play two warm-up matches against Malaysia Under-21 and Malaysia A before flying off to Singapore where the tournament will be held from January 17 to 25. Bangladesh will face Malaysia U-21 today and Malaysia A a day later before playing their last warm-up match against Oman this Thursday.
Bangladesh will begin their Pool B campaign against Japan this Saturday before taking on Mexico the following day. Bangladesh will face Poland in their last game on January 20. Pool A comprises Malaysia, Oman, Singapore and the Ukraine.
With 40 days of training under Malaysian coach Gobinathan Krishnamurty, Bangladesh are focused upon winning a semifinal slot.
