BD U21 hockey team reach India

As part of their preparation for the upcoming Under-21 Asian Cup Hockey Qualifiers, the junior hockey players of Bangladesh reached India last Monday and are likely to take part in eight practice matches against different opposition.

The 24-member Bangladesh U-21 hockey contingent contains 20 players and four officials. Mamunur Rashid will perform his duties as head coach while Tarikuzzaman will be the assistant coach. Following the conclusion of their preparation matches, the Bangladesh youngsters will return home on November 18.

The U-21 Asian Cup Hockey Qualifiers is scheduled to begin in Dhaka on November 30 and end on December 7. Alongside hosts Bangladesh, four teams – Oman, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and Sri Lanka – from Group 1 will participate in the Qualifiers. The group champions will qualify for the final round slated for China next year.
