The Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) is yet to receive any feedback from Ajay Kumar Bansal after recently appointing the Indian as the head coach of the national side on a three-month contract.
The BHF wants Bansal to take charge of the national team for the World Hockey League Round 2 slated for next year in January in Singapore. “We are yet to receive any feedback from Bansal. We will wait for the response till November 4. The governing body of hockey in the country will sit in a meeting on November 5. We will look for other options if Bansal is not available by then,” said Anvir Adil Khan, the joint secretary of the federation.
Meanwhile, the hockey federation is busy preparing for the AHF Under-21 Cup and the World Hockey League. As part of the preparation, the installation process of a new turf at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium is already underway. The government has exempted taxes (around Tk4.4m) of the imported turf. The turf, provided by the International Hockey Federation, is likely to arrive within a few weeks.
The stagnant situation of the premier division hockey league, however, remains unchanged as the federation is yet to bring the revolting clubs into an understanding. Big names including Mohammedan and Mariners along with Wari boycotted the league last year.
