The hockey arena of the country seems to be heading to a new problem zone as a number of clubs are planning to unite under the banner of Players-Official Unity.
The club officials sat in the Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd yesterday and discussed their next steps. Ariful Haque Prince, the manager of Dhaka Mohammedan admitted the development. “Our only motto is to save countries hockey. Mohammedan, Mariners and Wari, the premier division clubs have taken a stance against the current executive committee of Bangladesh Hockey Federation, now a number of first division and second division clubs are also joining the protest. We will not sit idle, we will be demonstrating in the stadium arena also,” said Prince.
The hockey arena has been in turmoil over the last six months as Mohammedan and other clubs refused to take part in the hockey elections that saw the panel, led by Khwaja Rahmatullah, register a clean sweep. The rebel hockey clubs since then have demanded the resignation of Rahmatullah.
