Bangladesh held to 1-1 draw by Uzbekistan, keep Asian Games hopes alive

Bangladesh kept their Asian Games hopes alive after holding Uzbekistan to a 1-1 draw in their third Pool B match of the Men's Asian Games Qualifier in Bangkok on Monday.

Both teams finished with four points, but Uzbekistan progressed to the semi-finals on superior goal difference.

Despite missing out on the last four, Bangladesh remain in contention, as the top six among nine teams will qualify for the main stage. They must now secure a fifth- or sixth-place finish to book their ticket.

Earlier, Bangladesh beat Chinese Taipei 4-3 before suffering a narrow 3-2 defeat to Sri Lanka.

The 2026 Asian Games will be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, in September.
