Bangladesh began their Men’s Asian Games Qualifier campaign with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Chinese Taipei in their opening Pool B match in Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday.
Ashraful Islam starred for the men in red and green, netting twice in the 15th and 22nd minutes to hand Bangladesh an early advantage. Aminul Islam added another in the 34th minute, while Deen Emon sealed the win with a crucial strike in the 59th minute.
The tournament features national sides from across Asia competing for qualification to the upcoming Asian Games.
Bangladesh are placed in Pool B alongside Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei and Uzbekistan. They will face Sri Lanka on April 3 before taking on Uzbekistan on April 6 in their remaining group fixtures.
All teams are playing in a round-robin format to determine the semi-finalists. The semi-finals are scheduled for April 9, with the final set to be held on April 10.
The top six teams from the qualifier will secure spots in the 2026 Asian Games, which will take place in Aichi–Nagoya, Japan from September 19 to October 4.
