Bangladesh suffered a 4-1 defeat to Malaysia in their opening match of the Hero Asia Cup 2025 at Rajgir, Bihar, India on Friday.
Bangladesh took the lead in the 16th minute when Ashraful Islam converted a penalty corner. Malaysia equalized through Ashran Hamsani in the 25th minute.
Akhimullah Anuar, Muhajir Abdu Rauf and Syed Cholan then struck in the 36th, 48th and 54th minutes respectively to complete the win for Malaysia.
Bangladesh will face Chinese Taipei in their second match on Saturday.
