BHF settles with Naveed as national coach

Naveed Alam, the former national coach of Pakistan hockey team, will take over as the coach of Bangladesh form July 1. Mamunur Rashid, the former national captain and a member of the ad-hoc committee of the federation, who resigned for the election, confirmed the arrival of the foreign coach. “Naveed was ready to pen the deal last week, but later we decided to sign the deal after his arrival on July 1 because the already signed MOU says Naveed will take charge immediately after his arrival,” said Mamun. Bangladesh Hockey Federation had initially shortlisted three members, Indian duo Harendra Singh and Rajindra Singh along with Naveed, but settled for the latter for a remuneration of $3,500 per month exclusive of his accommodation, transport and other facilities. After striking a deal worth Tk9.44m with Janata Bank in March, the BHF was looking for a national team coach for the past couple of months.
