A confident Bangladesh team will have one eye on the final when they take on Singapore in the last-four classification match in the Fifth Men's Asian Hockey Federation Cup at King's Park Stadium in Hong Kong on Saturday. The game begins at 2pm, Bangladesh Standard Time.
Bangladesh's record against the south-east Asian side is so convincing that the men in red and green can rightly hope to reach the final for the third consecutive time. Bangladesh have beaten Singapore four times in as many matches including their last game in the World Hockey League Round 2 in January 2015 where they comfortably won 3-0.
Apart from the playing XI, Bangladesh have great strength and depth in their bench as well. Along with experienced penalty-corner specialist Mamunur Rahman Chayan, Bangladesh have also found another drag-and-flick hero in young defender Ashraful Islam, who scored five goals in their last group match against Macau.
Young players like forward Sarwar Hossain and midfielder Romman Sarkar have also developed fine chemistry with the senior team mates in the shape of captain Russel Mahmud Jimmy.
Bangladesh are the reigning champions having won the last two editions. They are the only side in the tournament who have maintained hundred percent winning record in their three Pool A matches.
