Bangladesh golfer Siddikur Rahman passed another frustrating day at the ICTSI Philippine Open as the day-one leader posted a woeful 4-over-par 76 in the third round and slipped to joint 8th position at the challenging Wack Wack Golf and Country Club yesterday.
Korean-American Chan Kim grabbed the third round lead in the $300,000 event while overnight leader Marcus Both of Australia shot a disappointing 76 to share second place with Filipino Jay Bayron (69) and Wang Jeung-hun (72) of Korea.
Starting the day on third, Siddikur carded two birdies along with equal number of bogeys in the opening half of the third day. Then the EurAsia Cup star rued two unlucky double bogeys on holes 13 and 18 as he totaled with 1-under-par 215.
“I was a bit unlucky. My ball was plugged in the bunker in the 13th hole and my tee shot on number 18 hit a tree and landed in the bush. So I had to take a penalty drop. I’m still in a good position with one more day to go. Anything can happen tomorrow. Hopefully I can get my best round in the last round,” said the two-time Asian Tour winner.
Meanwhile, the other Bangladeshi contestant Zamal Hossain shared the 62nd spot after carding a 6-over-par 78 in the penultimate round for a 3-day total of 10-over-par in the Asian Tour event.
