Siddikur’s father passes away

Mohammad Afzal Hossain, the father of Bangladesh’s only Asian Tour winning golfer Siddikur Rahman, passed away in Dhaka Wednesday night.

He was 75.

He left behind his wife Firoza Begum, four sons and many well-wishers to mourn his death.

He was laid to eternal rest at Manikdi graveyard Thursday morning.

Samaun Anjum Auroni, the first female professional golfer of Bangladesh and wife of Siddikur, informed that her father-in-law had wanted to be buried at his village in Madaripur but the family decided to bury him in Matikata area of the capital due to the countrywide lockdown amid the Covid-19 outbreak.

Siddikur won a couple of AT titles – Brunei Open in 2010 and Indian Open in 2013 - and also earned direct qualification for the Rio Olympics 2016, the first ever Bangladeshi to achieve the feat.
