Siddikur hungry for third Asian Tour title

Ace Bangladesh golfer Siddikur Rahman has performed well at both home and abroad in recent times. And ahead of the Yeangder Heritage that tees off in Chinese Taipei on Thursday, Siddikur said he is “hungry” for his third Asian Tour title. Yeangder Heritage, that featured in the Asian Development Tour in the last two years, is a new tournament in the Asian Tour schedule in 2017. Siddikur is considered one of the favourites for a top 10 finish, thanks to his amazing final round display in the Panasonic Open Japan early this week. The 32-year old is the first golfer from Bangladesh to win an Asian Tour crown but his last title win came in 2013. He came close to winning his third title in Mauritius last year where he eventually finished second. He was also placed second in the Bashundhara Bangladesh Open in February this year. “I’m hungry to win my third title in the Asian Tour. I’ve been putting myself in that position so I think my time will come again soon. I’ve been playing really good this year,” Siddikur was quoted as saying in the official website of the Asian Tour. “This was the first time I performed so well in Japan. I holed many putts and I’m very happy with my game at the moment,” he said before adding, “Overall I’m feeling more confident. If I can be fit, then I think the result will come. In order to get good results, you need to stay fit. I don’t train much any more. I focus more on my fitness and practise less.” Siddikur has already started practising at the National Golf Country Club. “I played 18 holes [Tuesday] and the course is in good condition. It is a course that suits my game. It isn’t long and the layout is awesome,” he said. While talking about the fitness, he added, “My back is not 100% but it is much better compared to the last time. I’ve been doing a lot of stretching and it feels better.”
