Football fans contained their frustrations once again but relished the mode of two super goals scored by the Japanese U-21 team at the BNS yesterday.
Around 20,000 spectators gathered to create a festive mood at the big bowl and the encouraging first-half also maintained the euphoria, but three goals in the span of 15 minutes spoiled the atmosphere making the fans leave early. “Bangladesh was destroyed in 15 minutes, three goals was too much, I did not hope Bangladesh to win but I lost interest to continue in the stands, after 3-0” said Ashikur Rahman Jewel, a resident of Maniknagar, who was among the bunch of spectators leaving early.
However, Shahin Chowdhury of Wari praised the Japanese goals and said, “The last two goals were world class, it showed the individual brilliance, control and skill. The goals were scored off perfect teamwork and it was nice to see those goals, international matches provide the local fans these opportunities and we liked it.”
