BFF confirms Sri Lanka friendlies

After successfully hosting the Nepal Under-23 team last month, the Bangladesh football team will play two friendly matches against Sri Lanka next month outside Dhaka.

The first match will be played in Jessore on October 24 and the second game will be held in Rajshahi three days later, confirmed Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) general secretary Abu Naeem Shohag yesterday.

“We (BFF) invited them (Football Federation of Sri Lanka) through a letter on September 8 and they replied yesterday confirming that they are also interested to play the friendlies. The matches will be held on October 24 and 27 in Jessore and Rajshahi respectively,” said Shohag yesterday.

Shohag also said they have a verbal confirmation with the respective District Football Associations to host the matches. The BFF will start taking necessary initiatives to organise the friendlies from today.

Earlier, the Bangladesh U-23 team, who returned home from the Asian Games yesterday night, played two friendly matches against the Nepal U-23 side at the end of last month. The second game was held in Sylhet which attracted a record crowd to the stadium.
