Marcel new title sponsor of Championship Football

Marcel, a sister concern of Walton Group, became the title sponsor of the Bangladesh Championship Football League 2016-17, which will kick off in Dhaka on Sunday. This is the second time Walton emerged as the title sponsor of the country’s second tier league. The BFF introduced the sponsor, as well as signed the contracts, at BFF House on Tuesday. The official logo of the event was also unveiled during the occasion.

The number of participating teams increased by two to 10 this season. They are – Feni Soccer Club, Uttar Baridhara Club, T&T Club, Agrani Bank Sporting Club, Victoria Sporting Club, Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club, Bangladesh Police Sporting Club, Kawran Bazar Pragati Sangha, Nofel and Bashundhara Kings. The last two clubs are newcomers and will be taking part for the first time. Nofel were formed only this year. Kamalapur Stadium is the main venue of the league but the federation is also inspecting two more venues outside the capital - Feni, home to Soccer Club, and Rangpur.
