Bangladesh draw India 2-2

The Bangladesh national football team drew 2-2 against India in an international friendly match at Goa, India.   A last minute controversy deprived Bangladesh a deserving victory. Bangladesh scored a third goal but the referee discarded it and sent off the indian goal keeper for commiting foul. Advantage play is a common rule in football but the host referee did the opposite and deprived Bangladesh.   The green-red boys showed high spirit since the biginning of the match against their powerful neighbour. With just two minutes on the clock, Mamunul’s corner is cleared, Mithun side-volleyed on the rebound only to see his effort blocked by Arnab Mondal.   Mithun tried his luck from 25 yards out in the 12th  minute but his weak shot caused no trouble for Indian keeper Subrata Paul to make an easy save.   India took the lead in the 14th  minute through their start striker Sunil Chhetri. Robin Singh releases Chhetri on the left wing and the skipper made the best use of the space to break into the penalty area before slotting the ball past Sohel into the far post.   The hosts went close to scoring their second in the 41st minute when a shaky defensive show from Bangladesh saw Robin Singh dribbled past Nasir and then went past Yeasin’s last-ditched poor tackle but the Indian forward failed to beat goalkeeper Sohel in a one-on-one situation.   Bangladesh had their best chance three minutes later when Sohel Rana’s powerful strike from 20 yards saved superbly by Subrata Paul who dived to his left to keep the lead intact.   Mithun Chowdary equalised the margin with just six minutes into the second half. Sohel Rana did a great job at the left flank providing a low cross in the middle that found Mithun unmarked in front of the goal after a dummy of Hemanta. Mithun made no mistake to burying the ball into the net.   An own goal by Arnab Mondal gave Bangladesh the deserved lead in the 64th minute following a fine work by Hemanta. After skipping past a defender, Hemanta delivered a lovely cross for Emily but a clearance attempted by Arnab Mondal saw the ball enter his own net.
