Sk Jamal to resume BPL from Feb 22

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club will kick-off their rescheduled first phase Bangladesh Premier League matches against Team BJMC on February 22. The remaining three matches of the round against big guns Abahani Ltd and Sheikh Russell KC will be held on February 25 and 28 respectively before Jamal, after a 10-day break, takes on Uttar Baridhara on March 10. All the matches will be played at the Bangabandhu National Stadium at 4.30pm.

The league will have the 10-day break due to the Bangladesh national team's friendly match against India on March 5 in Goa. The national team is expected to leave the country for India on February 2.

The decisions were confirmed in a meeting of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) professional football league committee, presided by BFF senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy, at the BFF house yesterday.

March 10 was also confirmed as the draw for the Independence Cup 2014. The tournament is likely to begin on March 16. A total of 12 clubs, including 10 premier league sides and top two championship league teams- Arambagh Krira Sangha and Rahmatganj MFS- will be taking part in the tournament.

Premier Bank Limited agreed to continue as the title sponsor of the Bangladesh Championship League 2013-14 and the second tier championship will kick-off from February 25.
