I-League clubs Mohun Bagan and East Bengal are keen to play in Dhaka after Bangladesh Premier League side Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club’s impressive display in the ongoing 118th IFA Shield.
The officials of Kolkata giants showed interest and gave a proposal to Sheikh Jamal DC president Manjur Kader, who is currently with the team in Kolkata, to organise a tournament in Dhaka.
“A Mohun Bagan official said to me that they are interested to play a tournament in Dhaka. But I don’t want to think about it right now. Now my only concentration is to focus on winning the final and win the IFA Shield,” said Manjur Kader over phone.
It was learnt that the Sheikh Jamal DC president also passed the information to Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) president Kazi Salahuddin.
After losing to Kolkata’s Mohammedan Sporting Club in their tournament opener Sheikh Jamal DC beat Mohun Bagan, East Bengal and United Sikkim to storm into the final of the fourth oldest club cup competition in the world.
