Bangladesh-India friendly on March 5

Bangladesh national football team is all set to play an international friendly against India at Goa on March 5. Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) nodded positive over the proposal provided by the All India Football Federation.

Bangladesh last met India in the last edition of Saff Championship at Nepal in September last year and which ended in a 1-1 draw. According to Fifa statistics Bangladesh played India 23 times winning three, drawing nine and losing 11 matches.

BFF general secretary Abu Naeem Shohag admitted the development and said, “For the last few days we have been working on the issue and now we can say that we are seriously considering it. We look forward to play India at Goa on March 5.”

BFF is also taking the initiative to bring back the two Dutch national coaches as soon as possible. “We will be sending the tickets of Lodewijk de Kruif and Rene Koster within a few days and hope they will start the preparation of the national team for the friendly,” revealed Shohag.

Bangladesh last visited India in 2011 in the Saff Championship and carries a bitter experience from the trip. They were eliminated from the group stage following a goalless draw against Pakistan and losing 0-1 and 1-3 against Nepal and Maldives respectively.
