Bangladesh Football Federation opted for quantity instead of going for quality by renewing the contracts of all 18 enlisted coaches yesterday. However, Saiful Bari Titu, expected to work with the Dutch national coaches, got his appointment.
It would be mentionable that BFF pays the coaches with the fund provided by Asian Football Confederation and it was also learnt that AFC has trimmed the payment from $5000 to $3700 per month.
In the last few days BFF officials came out with a plan of evaluating all its paid coaches in order to cut the numbers and ensure the quality. BFF also formed two committees to accomplish the job, but all of a sudden it took a U-turn. It’s been alleged that number of coaches are hardly active and committed towards their job, and only receives the salary at the end of the month.
It was also learnt that BFF president Kazi Salahuddin opined to renew the contacts of the coaches who have the qualities for the betterment of football. Nevertheless, it did not happen.
Badal Roy, the vice president of BFF and the chairman of the Development Committee said chopping the number off will provide no benefit. “We thought a lot about the step and at last decided to renew all the contacts as we will take elaborative development programs in 2014. We need the coaches to implement our programs,” said Badal.
BFF in the last few months struggled to find a title sponsor and is reportedly going through a crisis.
