Despite not playing a single game last month, Bangladesh jumped six places to 156th in the latest Fifa/Coca-Cola World Ranking published on Thursday.
Bangladesh were ranked 166th in September following a dismal performance in the Saff Championship where they crashed out from the group stage. They were 162nd last month, but despite not playing a game since then, they climbed six places up to 156th ahead of Nepal, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
Saff champions Afghanistan also climbed four places to 129th – the highest ranking for a South Asian team. India and Maldives jumped six and eight places respectively to sit at 148th and 149th. Nepal are 165th, Sri Lanka 108th and Pakistan 167th in the latest rankings.
