Bangladesh U-15 national football team began their campaign at the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival 2026 with a goalless draw against Wales at the Hovsan Competition Complex in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Saturday.
Both teams created several scoring opportunities in the Group G encounter but failed to find the breakthrough, with the match ending 0-0.
Bangladesh are in a six-team group alongside Fiji, Burundi, Indonesia, Portugal and Wales. The young Bangladeshi side are scheduled to face Portugal and Indonesia on Sunday before taking on Burundi and Fiji in their remaining group matches on Monday.
The tournament will conclude with the finals on October 30.
The FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival features an innovative festival-style format. Matches are played in an eight-a-side format over two 20-minute halves, with rolling substitutions, kick-ins and smaller pitches.
A total of 189 teams are taking part in the event. Among them, 78 teams, including Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the Maldives from South Asia, have never previously competed at a FIFA World Cup at any age level, in either men's or women's football.
