Bangladesh national football team face Singapore in their second FIFA Asean Cup 2026 fixture at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia, today.
The match kicks off at 3pm Bangladesh time, with T Sports set to telecast it live.
Singapore, ranked 148th in the FIFA rankings, will start as the favourites on paper against the 182nd-ranked Bangladesh, who are looking to bounce back from defeat in their opening match.
Bangladesh lost 3-0 to Malaysia on Friday and are determined to put up an improved performance against Singapore ahead of their final Group A fixture.
Singapore, meanwhile, began their Asean Cup campaign with a 2-0 defeat to tournament favourites Indonesia at the same venue, conceding once in each half despite playing the final stages with 10 men.
The previous meeting between Bangladesh and Singapore ended in a 1-0 victory for the Southeast Asian side in March 2026 during the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers. Singapore had also won the first leg 2-1 in Dhaka in June 2025. Bangladesh have recorded two draws but are yet to beat Singapore.
Bangladesh head coach Thomas Dooley was unhappy with his side's performance against Malaysia and is expected to make several changes to the starting lineup.
Shakil Ahad Topu, also known as Topu Jr, was involved in all three goals conceded against Malaysia and could be replaced by Zidane Youssuf in central defence. Dooley also hinted at changes in midfield after expressing disappointment with Sohel Rana's performance.
The attackers also struggled to create enough chances in the opening game, leaving the German-American coach with the possibility of making changes to the attacking lineup as well.
Dooley sees the Singapore match as Bangladesh's best opportunity to collect points in the competition, with Indonesia, their final Group A opponents, likely to provide an even tougher challenge.
The Bangladesh coach wants his side to adopt a more aggressive approach and go for the win against Singapore.
“I know that the last two times were very tight. It was 2-1 and 1-0 for Singapore. And when I listen to the players, and to the fans, and to the media, those two games we could have won also. So that means they are even.
“And I said to the players already that we need to play with a different mindset, a different attitude, and I want to win the game,” Dooley said.
