Reigning Bangladesh Premier League champions Sheikh Russell and traditional powerhouse Dhaka Mohammedan said yesterday they wanted a quick resolution from the BFF’s Players Status Committee regarding the dispute over four players.
However the Players Status Committee said they are still in the dark about the player’s status and may not be able to present a verdict before the players’ registration’s deadline of October 31.
Sheikh Russell and Mohammedan are engaged in a tug of war over Zahid Hossain, Mamun Miah, Shariful Islam and Nahidul Islam, as the players reportedly took money in advance from Mohammedan but later decided to sign with Sheikh Russell.
Nurul Alam Chowdhury, the president of Sheikh Russell, said it is the duty of the Players Status Committee to resolve the dispute. “They should provide a verdict as they have collected the necessary information and should clear the players and the clubs. It their duty to resolve the dispute,” he said.
Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan, the director in charge of Dhaka Mohammedan, said the clubs future plans include the four players. “We have formed our team with the four players who are under scrutiny. We will be in great trouble if we don’t have the players, I have asked the BFF to provide the verdict before the deadline of the players’ registration,” he said.
However Abdur Rahim, a member of the Players Status Committee said they are still not in a position to present a verdict. “Mohammedan has provided some vouchers and Sheikh Russell had not provided any relevant papers. How can we provide the verdict? I urge the concerned clubs to cooperate with us to reach a solution.”
