Bangladesh midfielder Hamza Choudhury is closing in on a permanent return to Sheffield United, with the Championship club reportedly set to bring him back from Leicester City before the transfer window closes.
English media reports on Sunday said the 28-year-old is poised to leave Leicester, with Sheffield United emerging as his likely destination. Leicester Mercury reported that Hamza is closing in on a permanent move to the Blades.
Hamza is already familiar with Sheffield United, having spent the second half of the 2024-25 season at Bramall Lane on loan from Leicester. He made 16 Championship appearances during that spell and became an important member of the squad as the club challenged for promotion.
The Bangladesh international returned to Leicester following his loan spell and remained with his boyhood club. However, Leicester's relegation to League One has opened the door for a move, with Sheffield United now looking to reunite with the versatile midfielder.
The move could be completed imminently, with Hamza reportedly expected to undergo a medical ahead of the Championship transfer deadline on Tuesday night.
Hamza, who primarily plays as a defensive midfielder, came through Leicester's academy and has made more than 100 appearances for the Foxes.
