After Hamza Choudhury, England-based brothers Farhaan Ali Wahid and Rayaan Ali Wahid are set to join the Bangladesh national football setup, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Vice-President Fahad Karim said.
He made the announcement in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
Farhaan is being considered for the senior national team, while Rayaan is under consideration for the age-group squads.
Eighteen-year-old Farhaan Ali Wahid has attracted significant attention. The Fulham U-21 winger has been in impressive form in England’s Premier League 2, earning multiple Player of the Month nominations and winning the award last November. He came through Chelsea’s youth academy before joining Fulham, where he has continued his development.
In a video statement, Fahad Karim outlined the process behind their potential inclusion, saying discussions began last month after an email from UK-based agent Adam Roberts expressing interest in representing Farhaan and initiating talks with the BFF. The proposal was later reviewed by BFF president Tabith Awal and the technical committee before negotiations began with the players’ representatives.
He added that following a Zoom meeting, the players’ father granted permission for both brothers to represent Bangladesh.
Their passport documentation is expected to be completed by early to mid-July, with plans underway to include Farhaan in the September international window and potentially the SAFF Championship squad in November.
Rayaan Ali Wahid, currently playing for Woking FC, previously played a key role in helping Ashford FC win a grassroots league title in England.
Fahad Karim said the young attacking midfielder, who can also operate as a winger, could be a valuable addition to Bangladesh’s U-17 or U-20 squads.
