Back-to-back SAFF women champions return home

Upon landing at Dhaka Airport, the members of the Bangladesh national women’s football team, including the coach and captain, were met with a bustling press conference filled with excitement.

Captain Sabina Khatun has led her team to victory for the second consecutive time, and she expressed her emotions during Thursday's press briefing.

“I would like to first extend my gratitude to the people of the country who eagerly awaited this victory. It brings us immense joy to make everyone happy, and we are grateful to all the team members and the Bangladesh Football Federation for their support,” the captain said.

She added: “I especially want to thank former president Kazi Salahuddin, chairperson of the women’s committee Mahfuza Akhter Kiron, and the current president Tabith Awal and the new committee. This success has come through everyone's prayers and support.”

Sabina continued to share her feelings, saying: “This joy feels just like winning our first trophy. The turnout of so many people is a testament to how much the people of Bangladesh love football. Please continue to pray for us. I would also like to thank all the coaching staff who have worked tirelessly.”

Rupna Chakma, the tournament's best goalkeeper, expressed her gratitude as well, saying: “Thank you to everyone for coming here. Please pray for us.”

Ritu Porna Chakma, the scorer of the winning goal, said: “Thank you all for being here. We are thrilled to present this trophy as a gift to the people of our country. We hope to bring even more trophies in the future with your blessings.”
