Bangladesh Under-17 men's football team is set to fly for Bhutan Wednesday ahead of the SAFF U-17 Championship 2024, scheduled to be held in Thimphu from September 20 to 30.
Guided by coach Saiful Bari Titu, the team took around a month's preparation in Dhaka and Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan for the seven-nation competition.
Bangladesh are placed in Group A alongside India and the Maldives while Group B comprises Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and hosts Bhutan.
The top two group finishers will advance to the semi-finals, slated for September 28.
Bangladesh will face favorites India in the competition's inaugural match Friday before taking on the Maldives two days later.
Team captain Nazmul Huda Foysal said at a press conference Tuesday that they were inspired by the U-20 boys who recently clinched the SAFF U-20 Championship in Nepal.
All the matches will be held at Changlimithang Stadium.
