Bangladesh Football Federation president Kazi Salahuddin will not participate in the upcoming BFF Election, scheduled for October 26, 2024.
The four-time BFF president made the announcement Saturday afternoon at the federation headquarters.
“I have served four terms, and I consider myself fortunate to have had this opportunity. However, I will not contest in the upcoming election in October. This is my final decision,” the BFF chief told reporters.
Salahuddin added: “I thank you all for working with me over the last 16 years. There were moments of understanding and misunderstanding – which is natural – but I hold no grievances. I hope you feel the same. Thank you very much for your support. Let’s hope for the best for the BFF and for football.”
There had been requests to defer the election, but FIFA stood firm on the scheduled date.
“The BFF Election will be held on October 26. Some individuals requested to delay the election, so we sent a letter to FIFA regarding the matter. However, FIFA instructed us not to postpone the election, even by a single day,” Salahuddin explained.
Salahuddin was first elected as BFF president in 2008 and successfully won the subsequent three BFF elections.
