Kings part ways with Bruzon after six years

Bangladesh Premier League champions Bashundhara Kings terminated the contract with Oscar Bruzon after the Spaniard served the club as head coach for six years.

Bruzon called it “early and mutual termination” as his deal with the club was until the end of July, 2024.

“After six years giving all my efforts here, it’s time to change,” the 47-year old told Dhaka Tribune before adding: “And also I want to give some time to my family.”

During his tenure at the Kings, Bruzon won all editions of the league, three Federation Cup crowns and two Independence Cup titles, while he also guided his charges to a historic treble last season.

Kings became the first Bangladeshi club to clinch four top-flight silverwares in a row under the Spanish tactician which extended to record five this year.

But results at the AFC Cup, despite being the biggest-spending club of the country, were not always upto the mark.

Bruzon shared a farewell post on social media Thursday.

“I wanted to express my gratitude for the positive manner in which we reached a mutual agreement to terminate our contract after six years of continuous success including participation this season at the prestigious Asian Champions League,” stated Bruzon.

“I really value the time we spent working together.

“Today is the day to say goodbye but I am taking everything with me in my heart forever.”
