Bangladesh captain Sabina Khatun is set to leave for India Monday to join Kickstart FC, a Karnataka-based team competing in the Indian Women’s League.
“It’s confirmed now. I got the visa today (Sunday). I’ll be flying tomorrow (Monday) to join the new club,” the 30-year old forward told Dhaka Tribune.
Kickstart had earlier offered Sabina to feature for them in the ongoing Indian Women’s League, which was accepted by the Bangladesh skipper.
The only hurdle was waiting for the visa.
“We are interested in Sabina because we have seen the kind of player she is, and she is a pride of Bangladesh. We really want to get her here and make our mark in Bangladesh as well,” said a Kickstart official.
This will be Sabina’s second spell in the Indian Women’s League.
She previously played for Sethu FC during the 2018 edition and helped the side become champions by scoring six goals.
Kickstart, currently in second place in the seven-team table, aim to include Sabina in the squad before facing Sethu Wednesday.
